Welcome to the Hyndburn District Scouts Website!

The Scout Association offers everyday adventure and activity to almost 400,000 young people across the UK. The Movement is the largest co-educational youth organisation in the world, with over 28 million Members in 216 countries and territories.
We provide a programme of activities for young people (boys and girls) between the ages of 6 and 25.

Letter from District Commissioner

Just to keep you up to date with what is going on over the next few months in Hyndburn

ST GEORGES DAY PARADE
                      Details of this years St Georges Day Parade and Service, which this year is being held on Sunday 26th April, in the Town Hall Accrington, at the request of the Mayor of Hyndburn.
There will be a practice on Saturday 25th April sometime between 11am and 12, in the Town Hall. Please can you encourage your flag bearers to attend, as this is a new venue and they will need to know the procedure for the day.

DISTRICT DIRECTORY
                   The District Directory, is now in a smaller format which may be easier to carry. The directory will be issued approximately every quarter, any Amendments to the directory will be issued as an attachment for you to add to your copy until the next directory comes out.
Please let me have any amendments either by phone , E Mail, or text me.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
                      The 2009 Annual General Meeting is to be held on Wednesday 6th May at the Canine Club, Abbey Street, Accrington at 730pm for a 8pm start.
The purpose of the A.G.M. is to allow all Members of the Scout Council to hear the progress of the District over 2008, hear reports from the various A.D.C’s and to view the District audited accounts.
Members will be able to ask questions about any aspect of the reports, and also vote on the nominations put forward for the various posts within the District, these nominations will form the District Executive Committee, which is the committee that assists me to run the District. The A.D.C,s for the Beavers and Scouts are currently still seeking nominations from within the District, to represent their section, and I am seeking nominations for lay members and uniform reps for the County Scout Council.
          If you know of anyone who may wish to be nominated or if you feel like nominating yourself, then please can you let me have names no later than Monday 6th April.
The evening will take the form of a short official meeting then be given over to a social with pie and peas and a short quiz.
May I take this opportunity of invite all Leaders, assistants and helpers to this A.G.M. and social.
In order to plan the catering for the evening, please can you let me know, if possible either at the St George Day Parade or by Wednesday 29th April, Approximately how many people you anticipate will be attending from your Group.

       I am pleased to be able to congratulate Mr Ken Smith Local Training Manager on receiving the Silver Wolf, for services to Scouting, and Jennifer Turner on becoming A.C.C. Cubs
