Akeema 2009

akeema 2009

On Saturday 28th February, Hyndburn District Beavers took part in the Akeema (a mini-olympics style competition) at Bowley Scout Camp, Great Harwood. Eight teams from five colonies attended - All Saints Mercer, 1st Baxenden, 109 Loyola, St Pauls Barnfield, and St Wulstan's. All the beavers worked very hard and demonstrated excellent team work - and had a great time! The winners were 1st Baxenden and they received the Akeema Trophy. Tracy Shaw (ADC Beavers) would like to say well done to all the beavers who took part and a big thank you to the leaders for their support.

Wild West Fun Day 2008

On Saturday 20th September, the Wild West Fun Day was held at Bowley Scout Camp. Eight of Hyndburn's Beaver Colonies took part in this fantastic event - All Saints Mercer, All Saints Dunkenhalgh, 1st Baxenden, 109 Loyola, Rishton Parish, St Pauls Oswaldtwistle, St Pauls Barnfield and St Wulstans. It was a fabulous day (even the weather was hot and sunny for us!) with lots of cowbow-themed activities and shows for the beavers to enjoy. Tracy (ADC) would like to say a big thank you to all the Hyndburn beavers who came along to the event and looked so fantastic in their wild west outfits and also an extra big thank you to all our brilliant beaver scout leaders for their support and enthusiasm - Well done!"

Thanks,

Tracy

County Curling 2008

On Saturday 8th November, the first East Lancs County Curling competition for Beavers Scouts was held at Bowley Scout Camp. The Hyndburn Team was made up of eight Beavers - the winners of the District Ten Pin Bowling competition in October - one each from 1st Baxenden, All Saints Dunkenhalgh, All Saints Mercer, 109 Loyola, St Pauls Barnfield, St Pauls Oswaldtwistle, 2nd Rishton Baptist and St Wulstans colonies. This was a truly 'international team' who worked hard together to win the competition - a tremendous achievement. Well done to all the beavers who took part - I am extremely proud of you all. A special thank you to the leaders who helped on the day and to all the leaders in Hyndburn who ensured that their colony representative turned up to the event.
